Kanyemba River Lodge

Kanyemba Lodge is situated along the majestic Zambezi River, in the Chiawa Game Management Area, not far from where the Kafue River enters the Zambezi, about 150 km from Lusaka the capital of Zambia.  The Lodge is 30km from the Lower Zambezi National Park, surrounded by a pristine natural habitat. In front of the Lodge lays the beautiful Kanyemba Island. The only human presence  is the Goba people that live in a few small villages in the area.    
Kanyemba is a small Lodge born of a new conception, built in respect of local traditions with material coming from the bush. The structures have been created to offer the maximum comfort, with attention having be paid even to the smallest details and always in harmony with the surrounding habitat.
Five bungalows and a romantic suite are situated along the riverbank, hidden under the shade of giant fig and local hard wood trees.    
Built in stone with grass roofs, the bedrooms have a private veranda overlooking the great river. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with en-suit bathrooms.
The restaurant, bar, lounge area and a library with an African thyme are located in the main building, with a spacious viewing deck.
The cuisine combines traditional Italian dishes with the typical fresh products of the area.
The day starts with a sumptuous buffet breakfast, served on the deck with a wonderful African dawn as a backdrop. Lunch is also served on the deck while dinner is served around a crackling campfire under the African stars.
At Kanyemba the adventure goes well beyond the Lodge into the wilderness that surrounds it. The waters of the majestic Zambezi attract an enormous number of animals among which elephants, hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, zebra, predators of various species and thousands of birds.
Under the vigilant eyes of an expert guides it is possible to try one’s hand at a canon safari. To glide silently pass heard of huge African mammals is an experience never to forget. It is also possible to go on long walks or to do Bird Watching in the surrounding bush, always accompanied by a professional guide. It is also possible to go for safaris in the park.
For the fishermen the Zambezi is the ideal place to try one’s hand at catching the 'Tiger Fish' or the gigantic Vunda amongst other spices.
